Caption Contest: RULES and PRIZES

Why, just the other day I was asking myself: “Moxie, how can you gain the love and devotion of all those folks on the 21st century interwebs.” My first thought was to try and put a unicorn in every 21st century home but that just seemed too ambitious (and I couldn’t breed unicorns fast enough). Instead I came up with the idea of having my very own little caption contest! Let me tell you about the little prizes I’m giving away!

The Fascinating Five: the boys of Five Year Mission
Five Year Mission’s Debut CD, Year One

I’m giving away Five Year Mission’s debut CD, Year One!! (Read about the band here: Wired.com and on their own website: Five Year Mission) Now, If you’ve read my little blog then it’s no secret that I’m their biggest (haired) fan! Their music is so fun and fabulous that we still listen to it here in the future. The tunes are so catchy that they’ll bore into your ear like a Ceti eel larva (but don’t worry; Their songs don’t cause madness and eventual death.) Their first CD is called Year One and you can listen to their music and watch their videos HERE. (Their new CD, cleverly titled Year Two, is coming out in December so you’ll want to win this one right away! You can pre-order Year Two HERE.) In addition to the CD I also have some stickers from the band that I’ll be giving away.

Poor homeless tribbles

I’m also giving away a couple of homeless tribbles (If I don’t find homes for them soon they are going to have to be put down or beamed onto the nearest Klingon war bird.) Don’t worry these tribbles have been spade, neutered, and sterilized through irradiation in accordance with UFP law. They are accompanied by all the forms required for Federation transport and they have been vaccinated against Andorian exploding rabies.

Prizes will be awarded as follows:

First Prize: Five Year Mission’s Year One CD, stickers, and one fuzzy tribble.

Second Prize: Five Year Mission’s Year One CD, and one fuzzy tribble.

Third Prize: One lousy tribble.

And here’s how to enter:

  1. Go to the blog post titled “Caption Contest: PHOTO“.
  2.  Post your caption as a comment, followed by your name as it appears in your facebook account. Multiple entries are ok (as long as they are funny). Inappropriate or offensive entries will be removed at the discretion of yours truly.
  3. Go to facebook and friend me, “Moxie Anne Magnus”. Winners will be notified through facebook and will provide me, Moxie with a valid mailing address in order to receive their prize.

The contest will run from October 10, 2011 to Sunday, Novemeber 6, 2011 at 11:00 pm EST. Any entries made after that time will not be elligable for prizes. Winners will be contacted by me, Moxie Magnus, through facebook. Winners will be announced on November 11, 2011.

Moxie Magnus On Five Year Mission

Posted by Rittenhouse on Wednesday Jul 6, 2011 Under Interviews and Press, Uncategorized

Moxie Magnus: Star Trek Cosmetologist: Five Year Mission: The Man Trap.

Five Year Mission: The Man Trap

I’ve recently discovered Five Year Mission. Not the five year mission that I’m on, but something that was called a “tribute band” back in the 21st century.  This band somehow got hold of our adventures aboard the Enterprise and has decided to make a song of each “episode”. How clever! I don’t exactly know why they are called a “tribute band” but I hope it has to do with lavishing gifts on those you sing of (or technically for me, on those close to those you sing of). They are, of course, all clean cut young men with Starfleet regulation hair (Yes, yes, I know, those are very wide standards).

To read the rest of the review, please follow the link to Moxie’s page.  Also read her page.  It’s fabulous!

Five Year Mission Beams onto the Cover of NUVO

Five Year Mission in NUVO

If you grab a NUVO this week, you may notice something awesome. That’s Five Year Mission gracing the cover!

Last week we were interviewed by Wade CoggeShall for NUVO Newsweekly, a free Indianapolis alternative newspaper, and to our pleasure and surprise, our little chat turned into a story worthy of the front page. Here’s a little blurb:

“Fountain Square’s Hero House is a comic book lover’s dream.

Every conceivable symbol of fanboy-dom is there. Comic books and graphic novels, both classic and contemporary, fill brightly-lit shelves in one corner of the haven.

It’s in this space that the band Five Year Mission was born. Since recently releasing their debut CD, Year One, the quartet has quickly made waves behind an unusual concept — to write a song for every episode of the original Star Trek series.

‘It was a Star Trek idea from the beginning,” said Mike Rittenhouse, co-owner of Hero House Comics and a Five Year Mission member. (NUVO contributor Wayne Bertsch co-owns the store with Rittenhouse.) “The idea of doing a song for every episode of the original Star Trek was the idea for the band. I was going to do it all myself, then I thought it would be fun to do it with somebody.’”

Check out the rest of the article here, and grab a hard copy to save and cherish forever.
